Hi everyone,
This is an announcement for an advanced photography class that will be starting in a few weeks.
The goal of the class is to prepare people to do photography for profit which requires a fast workflow, advanced shooting/editing techniques, along with some business discussions on presentation, sales, and marketing.
The classes will be held:
April 24 - 6:00-10:00 pm
April 27 - 6:00-10:00 pm
Session 1
(first half) - Workflow
We will be talking about MY workflow from start to finish which will include all the different pieces of software that I use to get the job done as fast as possible. This will include everything from initial download of memory cards, renaming and organizing images, raw processing, photoshop actions, setting up files for a sales session, etc.
(second half) - Portraits
We will discuss what to look for and how to see/use light to your advantage when doing portraits. We'll talk a bit about lenses and camera settings to use during portraiture.
This will include discussing and breaking down a location by showing wide angle shots of the location along with showing zoomed in shots that the clients received. This lesson is very important to help you get ideas on what to look for when scouting a location.
With each image we will discuss lighting, shadows and processing of each photo and use the workflow discussed earlier to process an actual shoot.
Session 2
(first half) Miscellaneous - Shooting, Editing, Presentation, Equipment
Methods of sizing, printing, and displaying your photographs. Includes further discussion on up-sampling, down-sampling, adding borders and mattes digitally, printing, mounting, framing, designing storybooks using Photoshop, companies that will do the printing/binding of the books, etc.
Things to consider when doing different types of shoots from equipment to location (outdoors, indoors, different lighting situations, inside a house, someones backyard, etc.)
We will discuss shooting in low-light situations using ambient light, on-camera flash, remote flash, or video light. Methods to process those images to remove grain and noise and clean up the pictures.
(second half) Business
Doing photography as a business - what you need in terms of equipment, insurance, and paperwork. Ideas on how to get started and how to promote and advertise yourself. How to charge for different types of jobs. How to sell your images. What type of income can be expected when starting out and after getting established. Taxes and other expenses and what you can write-off as a business expense. A few differences between an LLC and an S-Corp.
The cost of the class will be $425 per person and will be taken on a first come first served basis. Each session will be 4 hours at my home in Sterling Heights. Max class size will be 8 people.
You can pay using the payment button below. If more than 8 people pay using the automatic payment below, the first 8 will be admitted and anyone after that will be given a refund.
