Dear friends, family, clients, etc,
We hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving and are getting prepared for the holiday season. Things have been winding down for us now that it's getting colder outside, so we have been spending time relaxing a bit and working ON our business to get things prepared for next year.
Oh yeah...and we had a baby too!! Yipppeeeeeee!!!

Our Newest Staff Member/Baby
At Arising Images, we do our best to combine customer service and quality to keep everyone happy. We've found that a trait that is really important for anyone working with us is the ability to make people feel comfortable and smile.
So far, we haven't found anyone better at making people smile than the newest addition to our family.
Mayz Mukherjee was born on Thanksgiving Day. 8 lb 11 oz, 21 inches long. Cheridy and I have been incredibly blessed by our new baby boy. We were really fortunate to be in our down season so that I could spend the full five days in the hospital with Cheridy and Mayz and we could all be together as a family during that time.
There's more pics of Mayz from birth up to his first photo shoot at 6 days old on our website at: http://arisingimages.com/miscellaneous/mayz

Over the last few weeks we've been doing some photo shoots for people's Christmas cards. There is no time left to do more photo shoots for Christmas cards this year, but hopefully we'll see some of you again next year.
This is a photo we took of our friends Danny and Melissa and all their kids for their cards this year.

Christmas has a Face
This year Christmas is going to be a little bit different for many reasons. First, obviously we have our new baby boy to celebrate with. Secondly, our church (Kensington Community Church) is attempting something big! It's to shift the concept that Christmas is about Santa Claus/presents to something totally different which we are very excited about. Kensington for many years has been partnering with organizations locally and globally to help fight poverty, famine, HIV, etc. and this year is asking everyone to prayerfully considering donating part of your families Christmas spending money to help those less fortunate. As Americans, it is predicted that we will use 457 BILLION dollars on Christmas spending this year alone. Instead of buying gifts that may end up being returned, misplaced, broken, or even discarded, think about how many lives could be saved if half of that money was donated to the needy all around the world. Food could be bought for starving children, water could be brought to people that otherwise have to pray for rain...the options are limitless!
If you're interested in joining our family and our church with this, you can learn more about this project and watch some videos about just a few of our partners in Kenya, India, and Detroit by going to:
https://www.kensingtonchurch.org/christmas

Due to our wedding schedule, we were not able to participate in the media projects for Kenya and India, but we were able to go down to Detroit to photograph some of the beautiful faces that will be helped through this project.

Featured Shoot
Our featured shoot this time is for little Caroline. We had a really fun time going with her and her parents to the park to play. She enjoyed the swings, feeding the ducks, rolling in the leaves, etc. and pretty much laughed and smiled the whole time.
This photo shoot is actually a great example of how the weather doesn't impact the photos. The day we shot these, it was really dark and gloomy outside and it actually started to and we had to go under the gazebo for a few minutes. However, there was still plenty of great light to capture some really fun images!!

4th Annual Road Trip
At the end of October, I went on my annual fall color road trip. Cheridy and I spend pretty much every waking minute together, so once a year it's nice for us both to have a bit of time apart. It's always great to come home and remember how blessed we really are to have each other. For this years trip, I went to New Hampshire and Massachusetts and drove around to see the sites and colors.
A few of those pictures are below and the rest of the gallery can be viewed here:

One of our most fun projects over the last few months was helping to decorate a medical building with fine art canvas prints. John and Paige Pradko moved their office to a new location in Clinton Township (Lakeshore Medical Center) and they needed some images for their walls. One of the best things was when Paige told us that once the pictures were hung, the morale in the whole office went up including both staff and patients.

If anyone is interested in our fine art images from around the world, those can be seen here:

Here are just a few of the many rooms in their office decorated with canvas prints:

An educational blurb for starting photographers:
Often times when shooting in low light situations, the pictures can turn out blurry. If you are experiencing this, try increasing the ISO (sensitivity to light) of your camera. Most digital camera with manual settings will have this option. Alternatively you will need to increase the light of the entire scene by either opening a window or door, turning on additional lights, or by using a flash. Sometimes the flash can overpower the scene and wash everything out, so using the existing ambient light can often times be more pleasing. Look in your instruction manual for ISO. You can read more about ISO here: http://www.arisingimages.com/learn/photo_class/main.htm#L_3_7

Photo Class
I just recently finished teaching another advanced photo class and will be taking a break until the next basic class starts in February. Registration and information is available on the Kensington Art School website: http://kensingtonchurch.org/ksoa/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=24

I constantly get asked how I get jobs edited so quickly. The advanced photo class that I just finished teaching goes through the entire workflow process. However, one of the things that helps me is the Photoshop action sets that I have created which we also now have available for purchase including Image Editing, Speedy Workflow, and Album Design, so if anyone is interested in purchasing those, please see the details here:

For anyone interested, I typically update our blog once or twice a week, so check that for more regular updates:

Thank again to all of our family, friends, and clients for your support/business!
Thanks and God Bless!
